Praying like Poets
This is for anyone who struggles to pray “the right way,” for artists who long to connect their creative work with their spiritual life, and for those who feel drawn to language as a path towards God.
A creative journey towards wholeness
I’ve spent my entire life wrestling with words. I am Jacob by the creek, brawling into the night, always on the brink of victory before the poem or prayer itself taps me on the hip and leaves me limping before breakfast.
Humbling as it is, the pursuit of a prayerful, poetic life can save us from the shallows and the dull thud of indifference. It draws us from the banks into the deep water of our own lives, and into the presence of God.
Over the next few months, we’ll explore the craft of writing and the practice of prayer — their mysterious bond, and why tending to both is a challenging yet essential part of our flourishing. We’ll write together, listen to the masters who have gone before us, and limp toward wholeness side by side.
This is for anyone who struggles to pray “the right way,” for artists who long to connect their creative work with their spiritual life, and for seekers who feel drawn to language as a path to God.
The first session is tomorrow, Wednesday, 24th September at 6 pm (UK).
The cost is just £6 per month, with all sessions hosted on Zoom (and recorded).
